After suffering its first defeat of the season Friday, the Fort Recovery football team fell five spots to ninth in the Associated Press poll released Monday.
The Indians (6-1) lost to then-No. 7 Minster 14-12. The Wildcats are defending Division VI state champions, but are now in Division VII. With the victory, the Wildcats moved up one spot to No. 6, and received two of 27 first-place votes.
The top three teams — Danville, Caldwell and Lucas — all remained the same from last week. Danville received 19 first-place votes and 249 points. Caldwell totaled 205 points and Lucas had 171.
Mogadore (151) comes in at fourth, with Warren John F. Kennedy (139) fifth. McComb (118) moved up one spot to seventh, Norwalk St. Paul improved two spots to eighth.
Behind the Indians (77), who are 6-1 for the first time in program history, is Glouster Trimble with 44. It was just outside the top 10 last week, finishing 11th in the poll.
West Unity Hilltop, which was ninth a week ago, has dropped out of the top 10.
The Indians travel to Maria Stein on Friday to take on four-time defending Division VII state champion Marion Local.
The Flyers were bumped up to Division VI this year, and are still ranked No. 1 despite its 17-14 loss to Coldwater, the top-ranked team in Division V.
