FR runners open season with third-place finish

St. Henry boys, girls win meet it hosted

ST. HENRY, Ohio — Fort Recovery Middle School’s boys and girls track teams both finished in third place Thursday in a quad meet at St. Henry.
The boys claimed victories in four events to score 50.5 points. The FRMS girls scored 25 points.
The host St. Henry Redskins finished first in both, with the girls totaling 101 points and the boys earning 75 points. Parkway was the runner-up. The Panther girls scored 66 points and the boys had 41.
New Knoxville was fourth, with its girls scoring 20 points and the boys 25.5.
Drew Muhlenkamp won two events for the Indians, finishing first in both the 800- and 1,600-meter runs. He had a time of 2 minutes, 36.51 seconds, in the 800, and crossed the finish line in 5:48.76 to win the 1,600.
Josh Gonzalez was the long jump winner with his distance of 16 feet, 10 inches, and he joined Owen Moorman, Jacob Acheson and Riley Pearson to win the 4x200 relay in 1:50.28.
Kierra Wendel earned the only victory for the FRMS girls, sprinting to a time of 14.36 seconds in the 100 dash.
Finishing in the top three for the boys were Jared Timmerman (long jump – second), Moorman (shot put – second) and Pearson (100 dash – second).
Cobe Wendel, Timmerman, Acheson and Muhlenkamp teamed to place second in the 4x400 relay.
Earning top-three individual finishes for the FRMS girls were Emmy Guggenbiller (200 hurdles – third) and Maria Hartings (800 run – third).
The Indians’ 4x400 relay team of Rachel Acheson, Ava Bubp, Hartings and Wendel finished second, and Bubp joined Olivia Laux, Autumn Burk and Guggenbiller for a third-place finish in the 4x100 relay.
