BERNE — Fort Recovery High School’s baseball team moved to 9-3 on the season Saturday with a doubleheader sweep over the South Adams Starfires.
The Indians won the first game 7-3, and outlasted Starfires 15-9 to complete the sweep.
A four-run seventh inning proved to be the difference for the Indians in game one. South Adams (2-4) took a 1-0 lead after the second inning, but then Tribe tied the game in the fifth and took a two-run advantage after six. In the top of the seventh inning, Fort Recovery added four insurance runs to go on top, 7-1.
The Starfires clawed back with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame, but the rally fell short.

SAHS senior Justin Nussbaum (0-2) suffered the loss. He allowed four runs — three earned — on four hits. He also struck out six while only walking one.
In game two, Fort Recovery broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning with a five-run frame. They added three more during the next inning and South Adams scored a run in the home half of the frame to trail 10-3.
The Starfires scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to get within one, 10-9, but another five-run showing by the Indians in the top of the seventh put the game out of reach.
Fort Recovery senior Jacob Homan was 3-for-4 with a double in game two, driving in a whopping six runs. Ross Homan also had three hits, including a triple, and tallied three RBIs. Will Homan added three hits, with Rogers and Bruns each adding two.
