Tribe tops Cavs in tourney

MARIA STEIN, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s seventh grade girls basketball team beat Coldwater 37-14 on Saturday in the first round of the Midwest Athletic Conference tournament.
The FRMS eighth graders lost to Minster, 25-23.
Kierra Wendel had nine points to lead the FRMS seventh graders, with Alli Vaughn and Elena Evers scoring eight points apiece.
Paige Fortkamp chipped in with six points, with Hope Wendel and Briana Homan totaling three points each.
Olivia Patch scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds for the eighth grade Indians.
Brooke Kahlig and Val Muhlenkamp tallied four points each, and Harlie Dues tallied three. Macy Day and Chloe Showalter both scored two points.

Eagles win tourney
DUNKIRK — West Jay’s sixth grade girls basketball team had an unblemished record Saturday in winning the West Jay Tournament it hosted.
The Eagles defeated the Union Rockets 38-10 in the opener before knocking off RJ Baskett 23-21 in the championship.
Isabelle Rogers totaled 39 points over the two games, including a 21-point effort against Union.
Lizzy Dollar (seven points), Kaelyn Denny (six) and Rylee Hambrock (four) also contributed in the win against the Rockets.
Denney added five points in the championship game.


WJ falls in title
DUNKIRK — The West Jay sixth grade boys basketball team fell in the championship game Saturday of the tournament it hosted.
The Eagles lost to RJ Baskett 42-23 after defeating Union 57-19 in the opener.
Camdin Harrison led the Eagles with seven points in the title game. Quinn Faulkner and Trenton Alexander scored five points apiece, and Nick Street chipped in with four points.
Faulkner scored 23 points in the opener against Union. Cody Bivens tallied eight points, Alexander totaled six and Street added four.

Patriots second
MUNCIE — A total of 15 wrestlers placed in the top four Sunday, helping the Patriot Wrestling Club finish second in the Delta Folkstyle Open at Delta High School.
The Patriots scored 218.5 points, finishing behind host Delta, which scored 326.5 points. Cowan was third out of 31 scoring teams with 146.5 points.
Mason Ludy, Tyler Manor and Memphis Torre all finished first place in their weight classes.
Sean Bailey, AJ Myers and Bryce Wenk finished second, with David Confer, Ryne Goldsworthy, Xander Torre, Sylas Wenk and Tony Wood placing third. Finishing fourth were Cameron Wenk, Presley Kunkle, Zach Nuckols and Cody Rowles.
Also competing were Landon Blowers, Leighton Brown, Cooper Glassford, Peyton Ludy, Kadin Ridenour, Aiden Stephens and Lane Stephens.
