Third quarter dooms Tribe

FORT RECOVERY — The third quarter was the one that got away Friday night.
Fort Recovery’s Indians played St. Henry tough through the first half, only to see their visitors step on the gas after halftime to take a 59-48 win.
The loss drops the Indians to 13-6 for the season.
Micaiah Cox led the Indians in scoring with 14, backed up by Chase Bruns and Caleb Martin with 11 points apiece.
The game saw five ties and six lead changes, but St. Henry was able to pull away.
St. Henry led 12-10 at the end of the first quarter, but Fort Recovery came back to tie things up at 18-18 at the half.
Then things started to fall apart. Timely three-point shooting by Mitch Schwieterman and an 11 of 14 performance at the free throw line proved to be the difference. At the end of three, it was St. Henry up 39-31.
That lead grew to 12 points in the fourth quarter as the Indians struggled to get back in the game. After hitting 9 of 10 free throws in the first half, Fort Recovery went cold at the line, making just 4 of 8 attempts.
Evan Lefeld led St. Henry in scoring with 18, Jesse Niekamp had 12, and Schwieterman contributed 11.
JV loses
Ryan Braun led the way for Fort Recovery with 19 in junior varsity action, but St. Henry held on for a narrow win 48-45.
The Indians fell behind early, outscored 18-10 in the first quarter. But they hustled their way back in, narrowing the gap to 27-23 at the half .
Payton Jutte scored 12 for the Indians.
Tyler Schlarman was the high point man for St. Henry with 10.
