SA wins against Raiders
PONETO — The Starfires are back above .500.
South Adams High School’s boys basketball team used a dominant second quarter to take control Friday as it climbed to 8-7 on the year with a 57-49 victory over the host Southern Wells Raiders.
SAHS, which is now 2-2 in the Allen County Athletic Conference, had a four-point lead in the opening period and then outscored the Raiders 16-4 in the second. Southern Wells (3-14, 0-5 ACAC) bounced back with a 17-7 advantage in the third quarter, but could not complete the rally.
Jared Grabau and Kody Fike were efficient in leading the Starfires with 17 and 14 points respectively. They combined to go 15-of-26 (58) percent from the field while the rest of the team was 9-of-29 (31 percent).
Keaton Coleman was 5-for-5 from the foul line for Southern Wells as he finished with 16 points. Elijah Barkell had 12 points and 13 rebounds, and Bryce Bonewit totaled seven
