Jay County’s middle school girls swim team moved to 6-0 on the season Monday with a 186-124 victory over Bellmont.
The boys squad also won, 145-129, improving to 3-3 on the year.
Five JC girls won an individual event and each had a hand in a winning relay team.
Lillian Clemmons won the 100-yard breaststroke with her time of 1 minute, 22.64 seconds. Erica Hathaway was the race winner in the 400 freestyle in 4:59.59, and Kaitlyn Hicks finished with a time of 34.75 seconds for a victory in the 50 butterfly.
Eliza Bader and Ashlyn Dow won the 200 freestyle (2:12.10) and 100 individual medley (1:08.39) respectively.
Elayna Paro, Leah Hummel, Hathaway and Hicks teamed for a victory in the 200 medley relay in 2:18.57. Bader joined twins Hannah and Emma James as well as Jenna Dunfee to finish first in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 2:04.04. Dunfee, Clemmons, Dow and Paro combined for a win in the 300 freestyle relay in 3:11.9.
For the boys, Juan Pablo Wiggins had two individual victories and helped two winning relays. He won both the 200 freestyle (2:24.69) and 400 freestyle (5:09.01) races. He joined Samuel Crump, Matthew Minnich and Chase McFarland for a time of 2:05.43 and a victory in the 200 freestyle relay. Wiggins also teamed with Konner Sommers, Ben Strausburg and McFarland to win the 300 freestyle relay in 3:20.51.
Damian Hicks, Nico Minnich, Strausburg and Sommers also won the 200 medley relay in 2:33.56.
Strausburg was the only other individual winner for the boys, swimming to a time of 37.26 seconds in the 50 butterfly.
Mitchell wins twice
MONROEVILLE — Carter Mitchell won two matches Monday as the West Jay Middle School wrestling team fell twice in a double dual at Heritage.
The Eagles lost to the host Patriots 15-12, then dropped a 36-6 score to the Woodlan Warriors.
Mitchell, a 102-pounder, defeated Jasper Voirol of Heritage by pin in the third period. He then earned the only victory against the Warriors, also a pin.
At 85 pounds, Gage Baker pinned Carson Rothgeb of Heritage during the second period.
Sean Ashley and Mitchell also won exhibition matches for the Eagles, who are back in action tonight at Bluffton.
