FR’s Stone earns swimming honor
FORT RECOVERY — Cori Stone became the first individual district medalist in school history.
The area coaches rewarded her for her accomplishment.
Stone, a Fort Recovery High School senior, was named to the all-area team by the Lima Area Swim Coaches Association.
Her teammate, Sophie Timmerman, was given special mention.
Earning honorable mention were Rachel Kaup, Alexis Bubp and Cassy Martin.
Nolan Thobe earned honorable mention for the FRHS boys.
Stone finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly Feb. 19 in the Division II district meet at Bowling Green State University. She swam to a school record time of 1 minute, 1.34 seconds, to become the program’s first individual medalist.
She also combined with Martin, Timmerman and Bubp to set school records in the 200 medley relay (1:55.7 – seventh), 200 freestyle relay (3:48.76 – eighth) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:44.53 – 11th).
