COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Indians keep bouncing back and forth.
This week, they moved in the positive direction.
In the OHSAA computer rankings released Tuesday, the Fort Recovery High School football team climbed two spots to No. 3 in Division VII Region 28.
The defending state champions (5-2), who have won five games for the third consecutive season, totaled 8.57 points. Covington (7-0) remained the top-ranked team with its total of 14.41. Troy Christian (6-1) was ranked second with 10.36.
Rounding out the top 10 are Lehman Catholic (5-2 – 7.76), Ada (5-2 – 7.74), Minster (3-4 – 7.04), Miami Valley Christian Academy (4-2 – 5.82), Upper Scioto Valley (4-3 – 5.25), DeGraff Riverside (4-3 – 4.97) and Cincinnati Hillcrest (5-2 _ 4.84).
Minster, which upset Division V No. 1 Coldwater on Friday, climbed five spots. The top eight teams in each region earn playoff berths, and the top four receive home games for the opening round.

Stars end with win
UNION CITY — The South Adams volleyball team closed its regular season Tuesday with a dominating win over the Union City Indians, 25-12, 25-14, 25-11.
Addie Wanner led the Starfires (22-8) with 10 kills, and Madi Wurster followed with seven. Morgan Alberson and Caralie Farlow chipped in with six kills each.
Jade Farlow had a team-high four blocks, Farlow led the squad with 16 digs and Julia Grabau posted team bests in assists (2) and aces (seven).
Alberson and Wurster also tallied a pair of blocks.
The Starfire junior varsity team also won, 25-16, 25-18, to finish the season 17-4.
Shaelynn Bowman led South Adams with six kills to go with her 10 digs, two aces and one block. Hannah Dull tallied 15 digs and three kills, with Lydia Loshe and Isabella Bailey recording seven assists each.

Link leads in loss
KOKOMO — Gabe Link ran for one touchdown and threw for another Monday as the Jay County freshman football team lost to host Northwestern, 26-14.
The Tigers scored 14 points in the opening quarter and led 20-6 at half. The advantage was extended to 26-6 in the third quarter before the Patriots (0-7) inched closer in the final quarter.
Link totaled 113 rushing yards, including a 65-yard score. He also threw an 8-yard touchdown pass, with Garrett Mann running in a two-point conversion.
Link also led the the defense with six tackles. Ethan Corwin and Drake Mason had four tackles each.

Chiefs top Eagles
The East Jay Middle School football team shook off an early deficit Tuesday to defeat county rival West Jay 28-19 at Jay County High School.
West Jay (5-2, 5-2 Allen County Athletic Conference) nabbed a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, but a 14-point effort by East Jay (7-3, 5-2 ACAC) gave the visiting team on the scoreboard a 14-13 lead at half. The Chiefs extended the lead with a touchdown in the third quarter and continued to pull away in the fourth quarter.
Sheldon Eley scored a 35-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter and found paydirt from 45 yards away in the third quarter to lead East Jay. Mitchell Trobridge scooped a fumble and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown, and Bailey Cox found the end zone for the final EJMS score.
West Jay’s Quinn Faulkner scored on runs of 73 and 11 yards as he finished with 122 rushing yards. He also completed a 52-yard TD pass to Wesley Bennett.

Chiefs 6th loses
The East Jay sixth grade volleyball teams both lost to the RJ Baskett Indians on Tuesday.
The A squad lost 25-14, 25-9, and the B team fell 22-25, 25-22, 15-11.
Laci McGinnis had three points, all of which were aces, to lead the A team (1-11). Patience Hambrock followed with two points and Kristen May added one.
Madison Brunswick, Sophia Baughn, Eden Abshire, Raquel Pineda, Kylee Cross, May and McGinnis all had one kill.
For the EJMS B team (1-6), Aryanna Ray had five aces on her way to six points, Kelsey Frantz followed with four points and three aces and Hambrock had four points as well. 
Ana Solis had a team-high three kills, and Haley Cumings had one assist.

Tribe, Rangers split
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams split with the New Knoxville Rangers on Tuesday.
The Tribe eighth graders won 25-15, 25-16, and the seventh grade Indians fell 25-17. 25-20.
Kierra Wendel led the eighth graders with a team-high 11 points, and her three aces tied Ashlyn Bechtol for the team lead. Brenna Homan notched nine points and two aces, and her eight digs tied Wendel for most on the team.
Kendra Dues had five kills, Kierra Wendel tallied four kills and Paige Fortkamp followed with three kills.
Marissa Gaerke led the seventh grade Indians with six kills, as Whitley Rammel and Aubrey Knapke had four kills apiece. 
Lilie Leuthold totaled six points and 11 digs while Madelyn Knapke tallied eight assists and eight digs. 

Stars win
BERNE — South Adams’ seventh and eighth grade football teams both picked up wins on Tuesday.
The SAMS eighth graders blasted the Woodlan Warriors 62-0 in one half of play, and the seventh graders defeated Fort Wayne Central Catholic 22-6.
Alex Gorney had five total touchdowns for the SAMS eighth graders, who finished the season 7-0 (7-0 Allen County Athletic Conference) and did not allow a point. 
Gorney scored rushing touchdowns of 44, 47 and 23 yards, while also returning the opening kickoff 69 yards to the end zone and adding a punt return for a score.
Aaron Timmons scored three times, twice on the ground and once on a pass from James Arnold, who also had a rushing touchdown.
For the South Adams seventh graders (6-0, 5-0 ACAC), Aidan Wanner scored on runs of 20 and 10 yards respectively while Trey Schoch found the end zone from the 3-yard line.
