ACAC honors soccer players

A squad that won its second consecutive conference championship was awarded accordingly.
The Jay County High School girls soccer team had eight players earn All-Allen County Athletic Conference honors as the boys and girls all-conference teams were announced Tuesday.
Lucy Laux earned first-team All-ACAC honors as a forward after leading the Patriots with 14 goals and 10 assists. She had three goals and four assists in the three conference games, all shutouts for Jay County (9-3).
Junior Briana Muhlenkamp (defense) and seniors Lilly Rogers (goalkeeper) and Emily Muhlenkamp (at large) were also named to the first team. The three combined to help the Patriots earn shutouts in eight of their nine victories, including four in a row.
Breea Liette (forward), Kendra Muhlenkamp (forward), Alex Bader (midfield) and Hannah Phillips (midfield) earned second-team honors.
Forward Lexi Dellinger and Tori Reiley were the lone first-team representatives for South Adams, while midfielder Emilee Myers and defender Josie Hall were placed on the second team.
For the boys, Jason Schlosser (forward), Angel Perez (midfield) and Zach Chaney (at large) were named to the first team for Jay County (4-10-2). Matthew Paquette (midfield) and Brent Englehardt (defense) earned second-team nods.
South Adams’ Brian O’Donnell and Preston Hillery were given first-team honors as a forward and defender respectively. Lars In’t Groen was second-team goalkeeper.

Tribe stays No. 4
COLUMBUS — In the OHSAA football computer rankings released Tuesday, the Fort Recovery Indians remained No. 4 in Division VII Region 28.
The Indians (6-3, 4-3 Midwest Athletic Conference), who are defending Division VII state champions, totaled 10.99 points for fourth. Covington (9-0) remained the top-ranked team in the region with 19.29 points. Troy Christian (8-1) came in at second with 16.27 points and MAC foe Minster (5-4) is third with 11.62.
Lehman Catholic (6-3) is fifth with 10.8 points, Ada (6-3) is ranked sixth at 10.71 and Upper Scioto Valley (6-3 – 9.01), Cincinnati Hillcrest (7-2 – 8.96), Miami Valley Christian Academy (5-3 – 7.95) and DeGraffe Riverside (6-3 – 7.39) round out the top 10.
The St. Henry Redskins (6-3, 5-2 MAC), who the Indians play at 7:30 p.m. Friday, are ranked fifth in Division VI Region 24
The top eight teams in each region earn playoff berths, and the top four teams receive home games for the first round.
