Cassidy Rammel was one of the go-to players for the Tribe.
Now she’s become a premier attacker for the Cougars.
Rammel, a 2015 Fort Recovery High School graduate, posted a match-high 15 kills for the University of Saint Francis volleyball team Wednesday in a 25-20, 25-15, 14-25, 25-19 victory over Bethel College.
The sophomore had eight of those kills in the final set, after the Cougars (2-3, 1-0 Crossroads League) had dropped the third. Rammel also shared the team-high of four blocks, and had one ace.
The former Indian had seven kills, two assists and a pair of digs in a season-opening loss Friday to Clarke University, and shared the team-high of eight kills later that day in a defeat to MidAmerica Nazarene.
She added kill totals of four and 14 respectively against Graceland University (a 3-0 loss) and 14 against Robert Morris University (a 3-1 win) both on Saturday.
Rammel is second on the team this season with 30 kills, and leads the team with 34.5 points.
Ava Kunkler, a 2016 Jay County High School graduate, made her collegiate debut on Saturday for the Cougars. She had one kill against both Graceland and Robert Morris.

Morgan Lennartz
Fort Recovery – 2016
Notched a team-high eight kills for the Indiana University East volleyball team in a 3-0 victory Friday over Robert Morris. She also had one dig for the Red Wolves (3-5).
The former Indian tallied three more kills and a pair of digs later in the day in a 3-1 victory against Graceland University.
Lennartz tallied four kills in a sweep of Harris-Stowe State University on Saturday, before adding three kills and two digs in a 3-2 loss to MidAmerican Nazarene.
The freshman has played in all eight matches and is fourth on the team with 37 kills.

Eric Hemmelgarn
Jay County – 2014
Recorded his first career fumble recovery for the University of St. Francis football team Saturday in a 34-20 victory over Trinity International.
Hemmelgarn, a junior, pounced on the loose ball in the second quarter, which set up a touchdown as the NAIA No. 4 Cougars (1-0) took a 13-3 lead 18 seconds before half.

Kelsey Fiely
Fort Recovery – 2013
Came off the bench to record nine digs Saturday in the University of Northwestern Ohio volleyball team’s 25-18, 15-25, 25-11, 23-25, 15-11 loss to St. Thomas-Houston.
Fiely played in all five sets for the Racers (2-7), also recording three assists and two aces. She racked up a season-high 11 digs Friday as UNOH fell to Texas Wesleyan.
The senior also had three digs Saturday against University of the Southwest and two Friday against Wayland Baptist.

Julie Valentine
Jay County – 2013
Ran for the Stephens College women’s cross country team Friday in a three-team meet hosted by Central Methodist University at Fayette City Golf Course in Missouri.
Valentine finished the 3,600-meter race in 18 minutes 49.25 seconds. She was 18th overall and fourth on the Stephens squad.

Derek Wanner
South Adams – 2015
Assisted on one tackle for the Taylor University football team on Saturday in a 41-28 victory over Davenport University.
During the second quarter, Wanner teamed with Matt Nguyen to bring down Keion Powers after an 18-yard reception from Hunter Krause.

Gabbie Mann
Jay County – 2016
Played for the IPFW women’s soccer team in losses to both St. Louis and Ball State.
Mann, Jay County’s career scoring leader, recorded 24 minutes of playing time in a 3-0 loss Aug. 25 to the Saint Louis Billikens.
She logged 18 more minutes Sunday in a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Ball State Cardinals.
Mann has played in all four games for the Mastodons (1-3), and has totaled 90 minutes of playing time.

Rachel Antrim
Jay County – 2016
Made her collegiate debut for the Trine University women’s golf team Friday during the Trine University Kick-Off Classic at Zollner Golf Course.
Antrim played for Trine’s C team, which finished last in a field of eight.
The freshman posted a 108 to place 41st overall, and the fourth-best score on the Thunder’s C team.
