SPENCERVILLE, Ohio — Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team went 2-1 on Saturday at the Spencerville Invitational.
The Tribe (5-1) defeated the host squad 25-8, 25-4 before suffering a three-set loss (25-13, 18-25, 25-18) to Old Fort. The Indians then rebounded with a 25-18, 25-16 victory against Allen East.
Carley Stone had a team-high 23 kills for the tournament, including a 10-kill effort against Allen East. She also tallied 25 digs, six aces and three blocks.
Alexis Bubp had a team-high 27 digs to go with her five aces, and Kiah Wendel led the team with 14 aces on her way to 26 service points.
Cassy Martin totaled nine blocks and seven kills, while Madi Rammel racked up 38 assists, including 10 against Old Fort.

SA drops Blackford
BERNE — The South Adams boys tennis team defeated the visiting Blackford Bruins on Saturday, 3-2.
David Muselman and Aidan Bahre both won their singles matches, but took different routes in doing so. Musleman muscled his way to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles against Scott Thompson. At No. 2 singles, Bahre lost the first set to Kerigan Reynard 6-4, outlasted the Bruin player 7-6 (8-6) in the second set, then cruised to a 6-1 win in the third.
The other win for the Starfires came at No. 1 doubles as Jamison Kistler and Zach Teeple defeated Zach Tarr and Evan Jennerjahn 6-1, 1-6, 6-1.
South Adams’ No. 2 doubles team of Paul Stuckey and Cam Stevens lost to Caustin Collett and Adrian Reidy 6-2, 6-4.
In the only junior varsity match, Wes Stout lost to Dylan Funkhouse 8-0.

FR girls fourth
GREENVILLE, Ohio — Chloe Will finished in the top 10 Saturday, helping the Fort Recovery girls cross country team place fourth in the small school division of the Greenville Invitational.

Fort Recovery’s boys placed ninth.
St. Henry was the team champion in the girls race, finishing with a score of 60, 10 points ahead of runner-up Versailles. New Bremen was third with 151 points, edging the Indians by one.
Will placed sixth in 20 minutes, 56 seconds as the top FRHS runner. Hannah Heitkamp was 16th, with teammates Elise Gehle (25th), Paige Hemmert (40th) and Angela Heitkamp (65th) behind her.
Brookville won the boys race with a score of 88, Houston was second with 91 and Legacy Christian placed third with 95. Fort Recovery totaled 251 points.
Travis Sutter crossed the finish line in eighth with a time of 17:30. Drew Muhlenkamp was 26th, Jared Timmerman placed 66th and Cameron Romer and Josh Gonzalez were 75th and 76th respectively.
Also running for Fort Recovery’s girls were Audrey Guggenbiller (78th) and Heather Klenke (79th), and for the boys were Andy Weitzel (89th) and John Knapke (93rd).

FRMS girls seventh
GREENVILLE, Ohio — Fort Recovery Middle School’s girls cross county team placed seventh Saturday in the Greenville Invitational.
Tippecanoe won the team title with 71 points, with Coldwater (93) and Versailles (98) finishing second and third respectively.
Fort Recovery totaled 233 points.
The FRMS boys did not qualify for a team score.
Hannah Metzger was the top FRMS girl, finishing 29th with a time of 12 minutes, 24 seconds. Anna Wendel was second on the team in 36th, with Megan Abels crossing in 41st. Alyssa Heinrichs and Sarah Siefring were 58th and 69th respectively.
Conner Gower was 29th to lead the Tribe boys. He had a time of 12:56. Jake Diller placed 70th and Luke Keller finished 104th.
Also running for the FRMS girls were Kendra Metzger (71st) and Emma Fullenkamp (81st).
