SELMA — Mara Bader finished second.
Her teammates weren’t too far behind her.
East Jay Middle School’s girls cross country team had four of the top 10 places on Saturday on its way to the team title of the Selma Invitational.
The Chiefs totaled 39 points for the victory, finishing ahead of Winchester Driver (89) and Delta (94).
East Jay’s eighth grade boys team scored 103 points for fourth, behind Selma (46), Delta (58) and Daleville (94). The combined sixth and seventh grade teams totaled 113 points for fourth. Monroe Central (50) won, followed by Delta (83) and Daleville (87).

Bader crossed the finish line in 12 minutes, 31 seconds. Lydia Keihn was 10 seconds behind in fourth, and Miranda Alig was seventh in 13 minutes flat. Lindy Wood also finished in the top 10, placing ninth in 13:09. Olivia Waters was 17th in 13:36.
In the eighth grade boys race, Mitchell Winner and Xavier Myers both finished in the top 10 for East Jay. Winner was second in 11:07, and Myers placed sixth in 11:34.
Sam Dunlavy was 30th in 13:19, Seth Wilson ended in 13:25 for 32nd and Wyatt Kunkler was one spot behind in 13:27.
Tyler Manor finished third overall in the race for sixth and seventh graders. He had a time of 11:48. Dustin Harris (12:21) and Flint Schmiesing (12:24) were 14th and 16th respectively. Isaac Kunkler was the No. 4 runner in 13:06, while Nico Minnich placed 44th in 13:28.
Also running were Lillian Schmidt (18th) and Lita Chowning (36th) for the girls; Grayson Williams (35th) and Mason Ludy (41st) for the eighth grade boys; and Al Hemmelgarn (45th) and Josh Monroe (49th) for the sixth and seventh grade boys.
