Patriots to meet Tigers
INDIANAPOLIS — To win a trophy, the Patriots will have to avenge losses in last season’s title games.
The South Adams Starfires have a difficult route to a title as well.
In the IHSAA boys and girls soccer sectional tournament draws this morning, Jay County High School’s teams both received semifinal matchups with the host Yorktown Tigers.
In the Class 2A Sectional 15 tournament, Jay County’s girls squad (8-3) meets the host Tigers (5-6) in the second semifinal at 7 p.m. Oct. 4. Yorktown defeated Jay County in last year’s sectional championship, and also on Thursday during their regular season meeting (see local roundup for details).
The other semifinal pits Delta (7-6) against Muncie Central (3-8-1) at 5 p.m. Oct. 4. The sectional championship is slated for 2 p.m. Oct. 8
Jay County’s boys (4-8-1) meet host Yorktown at 5 p.m. Oct. 5, with Muncie Central (6-5-1) and Delta (6-4-2) squaring off at 7 p.m. the same night.
The championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 8.
South Adams’ girls (3-7-2) meet Allen County Athletic Conference foe Heritage (2-7-5) in an opening-round matchup at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 in the Class A Sectional 37 tournament at Bellmont.

Fort Wayne Canterbury (3-7) received a bye, and it will meet the winner of the opening-round contest at 6 p.m. Oct. 3 between Fort Wayne Bishop Luers (4-6-2) and Blackhawk Christian (7-5) in the 5 p.m. Oct. 6 semifinal. The championship game is at 2 p.m. Oct. 8.
