RICHMOND — Jay County High School’s girls golf team dipped to 1-8 on the year with a loss to the Richmond Red Devils on Thursday.

The Patriots fell to the Red Devils 177-239 at Richmond Elks Lodge and Country Club.

Maddy Garringer had the best score for Jay County as she finished with 52. Mackenzie Parks was the only other player to shoot better than 60, finishing with a 59.

Eden Basford was third on the team at 61, and Jazzmine Howell rounded out the Patriots’ team total with 67.

Gabi Paxson also competed but did not factor into the team score. She shot 70.



Fort spikers win

FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery’s volleyball team knocked off the Arcanum Trojans in straight sets Thursday at Fort Site Fieldhouse.

The Indians (2-0) won all three by a 25-9 margin.

Paige Jutte led the Tribe with nine kills, while Cassy Martin and Carley Stone chipped in eight and seven kills respectively. Kelsey Jutte’s five aces were tops on the team, while Hannah Knapke, Madi Rammel and Stone had three aces each.

Stone’s 11 digs were a team-best, and Olivia Patch and Martin shared the team high of three blocks.

Kelsey Jutte totaled 17 assists, and Rammel totaled 14 helpers.

Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team also won, 25-13, 25-17. Paige Fortkamp paced the Tribe with seven kills, as Rachel Acheson added four kills. Chloe Showalter had team bests in both assists (21) and aces (six).

Jay, Delta tie

MUNCIE — The Jay County boys soccer team played to a 3-3 tie with the host Delta Eagles on Thursday.

Jay County (1-3-1) fell behind 2-1 at half, but scored a pair of goals in the final 40 minutes to walk away with a draw against its sectional rival.

Angel Perez, Ian McCombs and Caleb Manor all scored for Jay County, which travels to St. Marys, Ohio, on Monday to take on the Memorial Roughriders. Giovanni Perod and Daniel Fugiett both recorded assists.

Jay County’s junior varsity team fell, 4-0.



Tigers edge Tribe

VERSAILLES — The host Versailles Tigers edged the Fort Recovery boys golf team Tuesday, 186-189, at Stillwater Valley Golf Club.

Harrison Kaup had an eagle, a birdie and two pars as he shared match medalist honors with 41 for the best FRHS score. Grant Knapke had one birdie and a par on his way to a 47, and Dylan Ranly also made one birdie as he shot 49.

Carson Rammel shot 52 to complete the Tribe’s team total.

Blayne Tobe (59) and Derek Lochtefeld (63) also competed for the Indians.



FR falls to Tigers

CELINA, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s girls golf team lost to the Versailles Tigers on Thursday, 197-250, at Mercer County Elks Golf Club.

Kristen Keller shot 54 to lead the Tribe in the loss. Lydia Schmitz was second on the team with 61, and Eryn Litmer was four strokes behind with 65. Becca Wood completed the team score for Fort Recovery as she shot 70.

Alli Vaughn (72) and Regan Grieshop (80) also competed but did not factor into the team score.
