Last week at Delta: Jay County got as close as one point before halftime but had too many drives come up empty after intermission in a 28-19 loss to the host Eagles. Junior Michael Schlechty had 100 rushing yards and quarterback Holton Hill threw for 121 yards and three touchdowns for the Patriots. Charlie Spegal had 206 yards rushing for Delta.
Season leaders: Passing — Holton Hill – 20-of-36 passing for 339 yards, sixtouchdowns and one interception. Rushing — Michael Schlechty – 30 carries for 181 yards and two touchdowns. Receiving — Caleb Webster – eight catches for 151 yards and one touchdown. Defense — Ethan Theurer – 21 tackles and three tackles for loss.

Last week at Blackford: Southern Wells trailed by one after the first quarter but gave up two second-half touchdowns in an 18-7 loss to the host Bruins. Mason Huffman had 112 rushing yards and threw two interceptions for the Raiders.
Season leaders: Passing — Mason Huffman –3-of-7 passing for 83 yards and two interceptions. Rushing — Mason Huffman – 32 carries for 218 yards and three touchdowns. Receiving — Jed Perry – one catch for 36 yards. Defense — Coleman Beeks – 14 tackles and one interception.
Last season: Jay County had three players eclipse 100 rushing yards in a 40-12 victory over Southern Wells in Portland. Ryan Schlechty had 163 yards rushing and three touchdowns, as Cole Stigleman (143 yards) and Jacob Geesaman (102) also reached the century mark. Jay County had 411 rushing yards.
Game notes: This is the fifth meeting all time between Jay County and Southern Wells, with each team winning two games. Since becoming ACAC opponents in 2015 they have split, with the home team winning each time ... This is theACAC opener for both teams. During the 2016 season, Jay County placed third with a 4-2 record, while Southern Wells went winless in conference play ... Through two games, JCHS has a plus-28 scoring differential, while the Raiders are plus-22. John Harrell’s website predicts Jay County to win, 28-14.
