MUNCIE — Another meet, another school record down.
Cassy Martin, a Fort Recovery High School junior, set another record Monday, helping the Indians’ girls swim team beat the Hagerstown Tigers and host Delta Eagles.
They defeated the Tigers 78-20, and handled the eagles 68-33.
Fort Recovery’s boys lost both, 47-11 to Hagerstown and 85-2 to Delta.
Martin, who on Saturday set a school record in the 50-yard freestyle, became the fastest Tribe girl to complete the 500 freestyle with her winning time of 5 minutes, 45.38 seconds. She surpassed Cori Stone’s mark of 5:47. Martin was also first in the 200 freestyle (2:08.41).
Alexis Bubp got victories in the 200 individual medley (2:25.38) and 100butterfly (1:05.2), Carley Stone won the 100 backstroke (1:05.79) and Sophie Timmerman placed first in the 100 breaststroke 1:13.06.
Kyra Clark, Ava Bubp, Alexis Bubp and Martin teamed to win the 200 medley relay. Martin, Timmerman and the Bubps won the 200 freestyle relay while Autumn Burk, Shelby Stammen, Paige Fortkamp and Stone won the 400 freestyle relay.
Chiefs sweep Indians
The East Jay Middle School seventh andeighth grade boys basketball teams swept the visiting Union City Indians on Monday.
The seventh graders won 49-15, and the eighth graders won 50-25.
Bennett Weitzel, Dusty Pearsonand Brady Davis all scored eight points to lead the EJMS seventh graders (3-2). Pete Muhlenkamp chipped in five points, while Josh Dowlen, Dawson Hundley and Mathias Perrod all contributed four points.
Gavin Muhlenkamp and Ethan Dirksen poured in 15 points apiece in leading the eighth graders (5-0). Kyle Sanders scored six points as Adrek Pogue and Tarron Bentz each had four points.
Stars, Patriots split
MONROEVILLE — South Adams’ seventh andeighth grade boys basketball teams split on Monday with the host Heritage Patriots.
Theeighth grade Starfires (5-0, 4-0 Allen County Athletic Conference) outscored the Patriots 4-2 in overtime for a 41-39 victory. The seventh graders lost 44-25.
Trey Schock racked up 18 points to lead the SAMS eighth graders, and Aidan Wanner followed with 14 points. Kaleb Stevens added four points while Conner Young and Leo Palomo each had two points.
For the South Adams seventh graders (3-2, 2-2 ACAC), Kyle Minger led the way in the loss with nine points, and Matt Steiner had eight points. Brady Beal chipped in five points.
