Eels beat Stars
Fortkamp sets record in victory
FORT RECOVERY — Tiegan Fortkamp set a new pool record in helping the Fort Recovery Eels swim team to a 596-509 victory over South Adams at Ambassador Pool.
Fortkamp won the 11-12-year-old 50-yard freestyle in 30.54 seconds, beating Carley Stone’s record of 33.1 seconds set in 2012.
Fortkamp also had two other victories for the Eels.
Joelle Kaup, Cassidy Martin and Audra Bubp each won three individual events for Fort Recovery. Ava Bubp, Zachary Ervin, Kyra Clark and Alexis Bubp all picked up a pair of wins, while Kiera Stump, Gabe Knapke, Kendall Firks, Cew Fortkamp, Henry Knapke and Sophie Timmerman each won a single race.
For South Adams, Kade Cutler, Trevor Wilson, Zach Colpaert and Zach Teeple were all triple-event winners. Bria Akins, Blaine Duff and Evan Emerson each won two races.
Nathaniel White, Stella McIntire, Naomi Knapke, Adam Stahly, Zachariah Herman, Nate Wilson, Lola Sprunger, Delaney Schwartz, Carson Schwartz and Reagan Bollenbacher all picked up individual wins for the Starfires.
Fort Recovery also won 10 relays, seven of which came from the girls.
South Adams claimed first place in seven relays, including four from the boys.
