FORT RECOVERY — The Eel girls were strong throughout the lineup. But it was the 15-and-older group that was truly dominant.
The Fort Recovery Eels Summer Swim Team won every event in the 15-and-older division Thursday on the way to a 682-547 victory over St. Henry at Ambassador Pool. The win lifted the team to 4-1 on the season after suffering its first loss Monday to Jay County.
Cassy Martin and Alexis Bubp led the strong effort with three wins apiece. Martin was first in the 100-meter freestyle, 50 backstroke and 50 breaststroke for the 15-and-older girls while Bubp took the 100 individual medley, 50 butterfly and 50 freestyle. They also teamed with Sophie Timmerman and Rachel Acheson for the top spot in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
Nolan Thobe added to the dominance in the oldest age group, taking first in the 100 individual medley, 50 breaststroke and 50 freestyle for the boys.
Ava Bubp matched her sister with three wins, finishing first in the 13-14-year-old girls 100 freestyle, 100 individual medley and 50 butterfly.
Grant Fortkamp was the only other triple event winner for the Eels as he reached the wall first in the 8-and-younger boys 100 individual medley, 25 freestyle and 25 backstroke.
Adding two wins apiece for Fort Recovery were Makenna Huelskamp, Kiera Stump, Joelle Kaup, Caleb Smith, Eli Lennartz, Audra Bubp, Teigen Fortkamp and Kyra Clark. Single wins came from Sage Wendel, Paige Fortkamp and Riley Hiser.
The Eels also swept the girls relays.
