Skyler Esparza and the Barnett brothers led the way and got plenty of help from their teammates.

As a group Barnett’s Auto Parts had plenty of offense Thursday as it defeated Pioneer Packaging 19-11 in its Rookie League baseball game in Portland Junior League.

In Thursday’s other Rookie baseball game, Ponderosa topped All Circuit Electrical 17-2.

Boston Barnett, Benson Barnett and Esparza each scored three times in the victory. Boston Barnett had a triple and two doubles. Esparza had three hits, including a triple, and Benson Barnett finished with three hits, including a double.

Xander Torre added three hits and two runs, and Chase Bragg had three hits, including a double, and one run.

Samuel Wiggins led Pioneer in the defeat as he went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and three RBIs.

Maverick Reier finished 3-for-3 to lead Ponderosa to its victory. Mitchell Byrum and Andrew Myers each went 3-for-4, and Roman Clamme and Porter Clamme added two hits apiece.

Bryar Garringer was the only All Circuit player to pick up a pair of hits.

Three lead Homestead

Homestead Bedding racked up 30 hits as it knocked off Portland Optimist 22-13 in Rookie softball.

Brookylnn Bright, Ella Champ and Khloe Myers each finished 5-for-5 to lead Homestead. Myers drove in six runs, Champ and Bright each scored five times and Layla Armstrong had five RBIs.

Bristol Brewster went 4-for-4 with three runs to pace Optimist.



Optimist wins

Austin Schoenlein went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs to help lift Portland Optimist to an 11-8 victory over Portland Lions.

AJ Myers added an inside-the-park home run, a triple and two runs for Optimist, and Keegan Cavanaugh had two hits and three RBIs. Griffin Byrum and Landon Garringer each recorded four strikeouts in two innings on the mound.

Isaac Scott finished 3-for-4 with three singles for Lions.



Hoover powers

Cam Hoover led the way for Loy Realty Thursday as it defeated Boolman’s 14-8 in Sandy Koufax baseball.

Hoover paced the Loy offense with four hits. The team also got three hits apiece from Zach Twigg, Austin Curts and Javy Sargent.

Cam Langenkamp had a home run and a double for Boolman’s.
