DECATUR — Jay County’s middle school swim team completed its road schedule Monday by sweeping Bellmont.
The girls moved to 6-0 on the year with a 111-59 victory, while the boys won 119-57 to improve to 2-3-1.
Eliza Bader and Ashlyn Dow were both dual winners for the girls squad. Bader won the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 15.88 seconds, and picked up a win in the 50 butterfly in 28.25 seconds. Dow won the 50 and 100 freestyle races in 26 and 58.19 seconds respectively.
Justice Murphy (diving – 82.8), Mara Bader (100 individual medley – 1:10.34), Lillian Clemmons (400 freestyle – 4:59.5), Rieley Brewster (100 backstroke – 1:14.87) and Elayna Paro (100 breaststroke – 1:20.54) each won their respective events.
Eliza Bader joined younger sister Mara, Paro and Dow for a win in the 300 freestyle relay in 3:01.36, and teamed with Dow, Brewster and Clemmons to win the 200 medley relay in 2:01.24. Mara Bader, Clemmons, Brewster and Paro combined to win the 200 freestyle relay in 2:01.93.
Damian Hicks was the lone dual winner for the boys, placing first in the 50 freestyle (28.36) and 100 freestyle (1:02.82). Juan Pablo Wiggins earned a victory in the 400 freestyle in 5:17.32 and Josh Monroe had a time of 1:22.62 to win the 100 breaststroke.
Ben Nichols, Sammy Crump, Konner Sommers and Wiggins won the 200 medley relay in 2:24.45, and Nico Minnich, Griffin Mann, Nichols and Crump won the 200 freestyle in 2:12.75.
Jay County ends the year with three consecutive home meets. It hosts the South Adams Starfires at 5:30 p.m. tonight, the Allen County Athletic Conference championships Saturday and the Blackford Bruins on Monday.
