Tigers hold on to beat Chiefs

East Jay wrestlers fall in season finale

BLUFFTON — The Chiefs were in a deep hole five matches in against the Tigers.

They mounted a comeback, but fell just short.

East Jay Middle School’s wrestling team dropped its final dual meet of the season on Thursday, 37-36 to the Bluffton Tigers.

After the first five matches,?East?Jay was down 25-0. But Blaine Daniels needed less than 30 seconds to get a pin in his 102-pound match. At 125 pounds, Mason Ludy won by pin, and Kayden Ridenour won by a 9-5 decision in his 132-pound match.

Cameron Lawhead (140), Dakota Lairson (160) and Ramon Bravo (195) also picked up pins to help the?Chiefs in the comeback. At 175 pounds, Ryan Herring won by an 11-6 decision to complete the scoring for East Jay.

The?East Jay and West?Jay wrestling teams will close their respective seasons on Saturday in the Allen County Athletic Conference tournament at Adams Central in Monroe. Action begins at 9 a.m.
