Jay County closed its season in record-breaking fashion.

The Jay County middle school girls swim team set two new records Monday in a 187-77 victory over the visiting Blackford Bruins at Jay County High School.

The boys squad won 185-94.

Eliza Bader swam to a team-record time of 25.66 seconds in placing first in 50-yard freestyle, besting her older sister Alex’s mark by one tenth of a second.

She then teamed with Rieley Brewster, Lillian Clemmons and Ashlyn Dow to set a new record of 1 minute, 47.88 seconds, in winning the 200 freestyle relay.

Bader also won the 200 freestyle in 2:22.45, Brewster claimed the top spot in the 100 freestyle in 1:03.29 and Dow won the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.36.

Elayna Paro won the 100 individual medley in 1:12.71, Abby Johnson was first in the 50 butterfly in 45.48 seconds, Abilene Hough earned a victory in the 400 freestyle in 6:00.39 and Mara Bader won the 100 backstroke in 1:17.93.

Ryleigh Oswalt, Abby Johnson, Brewster and Dow combined for a victory in the 200 medley relay in 2:27.94. Mara Bader, Hough, Clemmons and Oswalt teamed to win the 300 freestyle relay in 3:24.08.

Juan Pablo Wiggins and Ben Nichols both won a pair of events for the Jay County boys. Wiggins was first in both the 200 and 400 freestyle events, finishing with times of 2:20.71 and 5:10.8 respectively. Nichols was victorious in the 100 IM (1:14.73) and 100 breaststroke (12:20.74).

Konner Sommers beat the field in the 100 backstroke with his time of 1:25.34.

Kyle Sanders, Josh Monroe, Sammy Crump and Ben Nichols combined to win the 200 freestyle relay in 2:10.47.
