Former Patriot assistant was 36-36 in three years
MUNCIE — A former Patriot has stepped down from his first head coaching job.
Ryan VanSkyock, a 2003 Jay County High School graduate, resigned from his position as Delta boys basketball coach.
He announced his resignation on Tuesday at Delaware Community School Corporation’s board meeting.
VanSkyock, who served as an assistant to long-time Patriot coach Craig Teagle from 2006 to ’13, was named coach of the Eagles in May 2014. In his three years at the rural Delaware County school, he compiled a 36-36 record, including back-to-back 14-10 years. He was 8-16 in his first year at the helm.
Under his direction, the Eagles won the Delaware County tournament in 2015 and ’16, but lost in the opening round of the sectional tournament all three years.
