COLDWATER, Ohio — Robby LeFevre is once again a two-time champion.
One of those was a repeat win.
LeFevre, a Fort Recovery High School sophomore, finished first in two events on Saturday in the finals of the Knights of Columbus Mercer County Track Invitational.
The Tribe boys scored 53 points for fifth place. Celina won with 152 points, ahead of St. Henry (113) and Marion Local (78). Fort Recovery’s girls scored 43 points for sixth. Celina also won with 152.5 points. Coldwater (89.5) and Marion Local (89) were second and third respectively.
LeFevre repeated as champion in the 100-meter dash, winning with a time of 11.62 seconds. He also ran to a time of 23.53 seconds in the 200 dash to become a two-time champ for the second year in a row. He won the 110 hurdles last season.
Travis Sutter was the only other champion for the FRHS boys. He was first in the 1,600 run with a time of 4 minutes, 38 seconds. He was also second in the 3,200 run in 10:41.62.
Brayden Schoen, Riley Pearson, Jared Timmerman and LeFevre teamed to place second in the 4x100 run in 46.49 seconds. The same four were third in the 4x400 relay in 3:45.18.
Cassidy Martin had the best finish for the FRHS girls. She was second in the 400 dash in 1:01.66, and placed third in the 200 dash in 28.43 seconds.
Also finishing in the top three for the Tribe girls were Chloe Will (second – 3,200 run) and Lauren Gehle (third – 100 dash).
Middle school
Kierra Wendel set a new meet record and lowered her own school mark in helping the Fort Recovery Middle School girls place fourth.
The Indians scored 66.5 points, behind Coldwater (114), Marion Local (119) and Celina (104).
Fort Recovery’s boys placed third with 98 points. Marion Local won with 118, and Celina totaled 112 points for second.
Wendel had a time of 1:01.47, breaking the previous meet record of 1:01.81 held by Marion Local’s Allie Thobe. She was also first in the 200 dash in 25.06 seconds. Elena Evers also had a victory for the FRMS girls, winning discus at 88 feet, 7.5 inches.
Owen Moorman had three individual victories to lead the FRMS boys. His time of 12.38 seconds won the 100 dash, he beat the field in the 400 dash in 59.18 seconds and he was victorious in the 200 dash in 25.06 seconds.
Regan Martin got the other individual win for the Tribe, finishing first in high jump at 5 feet, 4 inches.
Also placing in the top three were Derek Jutte (second – 110 hurdles, second – 200 hurdles) and Cobe Wendel (second – 1,600 run) for the boys, and Ava Bubp (third – 800 run) for the girls.
The boys 4x200 relay team of Riley Hiser, Korbin Dues, Logan Homan and Jon Wendel was second, while Peyton Brunswick, Jon Wendel, Martin and Dues were second in the 4x400 relay.
