BRADFORD, Ohio — The Railroaders often had trouble with the Indians’ serve.
The Tribe racked up multiple aces in the process.
The Fort Recovery High School volleyball team totaled 19 aces Monday in a 25-12, 25-6, 25-12 victory over Bradford.
The win kept the Indians (15-2) perfect against non-conference foes.
Kelsey Jutte led the Tribe with six aces, and Carley Stone was second on the squad with five aces. Madi Rammel, Hannah Knapke and Cassy Martin had two aces each.
Stone paced the offense with 14 kills. Paige Jutte was behind her with nine kills and Knapke totaled five kills. Rammel had 20 assists and Kelsey Jutte contributed 10 assists.
The Fort Recovery junior varsity team also won, 25-11, 25-8. Harlie Dues had four kills to go with her three digs. Natalie Homan and Ashlyn Bechtol tallied three kills apiece, and Ava Bubp notched four aces. Kyra Clark and Bubp had five assists apiece.
Stars beat Bulldogs
NEW HAVEN — The South Adams volleyball team bounced back from a pair of losses Saturday by beating the New Haven Bulldogs on Monday, 25-9, 25-16, 25-14.
Madi Wurster’s 10 kills were tops on the team, and Addie Wanner was second with nine kills. Wanner led the Starfires (18-9) with four blocks.
Shaelynn Bowman contributed four kills, while Julia Grabau had team highs in both assists (23) and aces (nine).
Hanna Dull had nine digs to pace the SAHS defense.
The South Adams junior varsity team also swept the Bulldogs, 25-15, 25-18.
Gabriella Bailey had seven kills to lead South Adams, which also got six kills from Savannah Alberson and four kills from Hannah Beitler. Bailey also had 10 digs, and Josie Grabau totaled 20 assists.
Jay wins in 2OT
Jay County’s junior varsity team scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter to tie the game and found the end zone in each overtime period in beating South Adams on Monday, 24-18 in double overtime.
Bailey Cox led the JCHS rushing attack with 126 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. Rylee Huftel, Tristin Huftel and Landon Grimes also had rushing TDs for the Patriots (4-3).
Ethan Corwin led the defense with seven tackles and a pair of sacks. Rylee Huftel had a fumble recovery, while Sheldon Eley and Cox both had interceptions.
Two squads beat Bears
East Jay Middle School’s volleyball teams hosted the Monroe Central Golden Bears on Monday and two teams earned victories.
The EJMS eighth graders won 25-11, 25-19, and the sixth grade squad picked up a 25-18, 25-14 victory. The seventh graders fell 24-25, 25-19, 15-14.
Kylie Klopfenstein and Madison Dirksen had four kills each in leading the eighth graders (15-4). Klopfenstein also had six digs and five points with one ace. Maddy Wenk totaled eight points, seven assists and five digs.
Bralee VanSkyock led the sixth grade team (5-7) with four kills. She also had six aces on her way to seven service points. Kenzie Landon totaled four aces, while Brenna Haines, Riah Champ and Joske Herndon had three aces apiece.
Morgan Reier led the seventh graders with five kills. She also had team highs in points (11) and digs (eight). Laci McGinnis tallied three kills and three aces, and Lauren Brewster had five digs, two kills and two aces.
