OTTAWA, Ohio — The Tribe girls are headed back to regional.
Fort Recovery High School’s girls cross country team finished third Saturday in the OHSAA Division III District 2 meet at Ottawa Park, earning one of four regional qualifying spots.
The FRHS boys finished eighth and had one individual advance, as the top four teams and those finishing in the top 16 reach regional.
Columbus Grove won the team title with 39 points, ahead of runner-up St. Henry (51) and New Bremen (70). Fort Recovery, which will compete at the regional meet for the fourth time in the last six years, scored 89 points to earn the fourth spot.
Minster’s boys totaled 40 points to claim the championship. Parkway (50), Antwerp (101) and Cresview (108) were second through fourth to qualify for regional.
Fort Recovery totaled 209 for eighth.
The regional meet is slated for 11 a.m. Saturday at Tiffin. For the Division III girls, the top eight teams and any individual finishing in the top 32 advance to the state finals. In the Division III boys race, it will be the top seven teams and individuals who finish in the top 28.
Junior Chloe Will led the Indian girls with a third-place finish in 20 minutes, 39.3 seconds. She was eighth as a sophomore and ninth as a freshman at the district meet.
Freshman Anna Wendel had a time of 21:21.6 for 13th. Fellow freshmen Hanna and Kendra Metzger finished back-to-back in 22nd and 23rd with times of 22:22.3 and 22:29.8 respectively. Elise Gehle, a junior, was 38th in 23:59.1.
Muhlenkamp, a sophomore, was 14th in 18:18.7. Connor Gower was 41st in 19:38.2, Cameron Romer finished 47th in 19:58.8, Jared Timmerman placed 52nd in 20:07 and Jayden McEldowney rounded out the team total by ending 74th in 21:58.4.
Also running for the FRHS girls were Sarah Siefring (42nd – 24:20.2) and Audrey Guggenbiller (46th – 24:37.7). For the boys were Andy Weitzel (78th – 22:55) and John Knapke (79th – 23:48.7).
