OSSIAN — The South Adams volleyball team swept the host Norwell Knights on Thursday, 25-17, 25-13, 25-8.
Madi Wurster led the Starfires (8-3) with 17 kills, and Addie Wanner was second on the team with seven kills. Wurster also had eight digs and an ace, as Wanner chipped in five blocks, one ace and a single dig.
Shaelynn Bowman had six kills and a pair of blocks. Bella Bailey contributed nine digs and Julia Grabau recorded 29 assists.
The Starfires’ junior varsity team won, 25-17, 25-15. Savannah Alberson led the way with five kills and Gabriella Bailey followed with four kills. Josie Grabau tallied 18 assists.
South Adams’ freshman team completed the sweep with a 25-19, 25-14 victory. Josie Grabau had 10 kills to lead SAHS, which also got three kills each from Jade Baker and Laryson Ziegler.
Stars top Raiders
WARREN — South Adams’ girls golf team moved to 9-2 on the season Thursday with a win against the host Southern Wells Raiders at Dogwood Glenn Golf Course.
The Starfires totaled 197 as a team score. Southern Wells only had three players and did not qualify for a team total.
Kaiti Gorrell earned match medalist honors with a 9-over-par 45. Becah Schwartz was second on the team with 48, and Allyson Schwartz shot 51, including a birdie on the par-4 fourth hole. Millie Gaskill shot 53 to complete the SAHS team score.
Shayla Welch and Claire Sutton also competed for the Starfires but did not factor into the team total. Welch finished with 56, and Sutton had 61.
Trio leads stars
MUNCIE — A trio of players scored one goal apiece, lifting the South Adams girls soccer team to a 3-2 victory over the Muncie Central Bearcats.
Lexi Dellinger scored the first goal for the Starfires (3-3). Kayla LeFever and Madi Smith also found the back of the net, and Dellinger was credited for assists on both of those tallies.
Jenna Myers recorded seven saves as goalkeeper for South Adams.
