CONVOY, Ohio — The Indians didn’t allow a hit Saturday.
If not for three walks and a hit batsmen, they would have had a shutout too.
Three Fort Recovery High School pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter Saturday as the Indians defeated the host Crestview Knights, 8-1.
The Indians, who move to 3-1 on the season, allowed base runners in every inning but the first and fifth. Already leading 8-0, the Tribe loaded the bases on three walks, then sophomore pitcher Joe Homan — making his career debut — hit a batter to bring in the Knights’ only run.
Nick Thwaits got the victory, his first of the season, by tossing five innings. He struck out 12 of the 17 batters he faced and had one walk.
Fort Recovery scored twice in the first, third and fourth innings, while tallying one run in the second and sixth frames as they notched the first eight runs of the game.
Ben Homan had two hits and an RBI, while Reese Rogers and Thwaits both drove in a pair of runs.
Joe Homan had a double for his first career hit, and he allowed one earned run in one-third inning of relief pitching.
