Highly-touted San Diego Padres prospect MacKenzie Gore had his Fort Wayne debut spoiled Tuesday as the TinCaps lost to the Lansing Lugnuts 6-5 at Parkview Field.
Gore, who is the No. 2 prospect in the Padres’ organization and the top left-handed pitching arm in all of baseball, gave up two earned runs on five hits in three innings. He struck out four and walked one.
The TinCaps, who have lost the first six games this season, led in the second and fifth innings, but surrendered two runs in the top of the seventh for the eventual final score.
Gabriel Arias had two doubles for the TinCaps, and Luis Campusano also had a pair of hits. Jeisson Rosario ripped a double and drove in a pair of runs.
Travis Radke suffered the loss for Fort Wayne, which hosted the Lugnuts (4-2) at 11:05 a.m. this morning for the third of a four-game series. Radke allowed four runs — three earned —?on four hits in three innings of relief.
