BERNE — Lydia Loshe was on fire, no matter where she was on the court.
Loshe scored a career-high 28 points Monday, leading the South Adams High School girls basketball team to a 59-49 victory over the Eastbrook Panthers at Stardome.
The Starfires (5-5) played stout defense early as it led 17-5 after the first quarter, only to have the Panthers (4-5) claw back in it to trail 29-23 at halftime. South Adams, which hosts Jay County (4-6) on Saturday, outscored Eastbrook 15-7 in the third quarter before the Panthers cut into the deficit in the final eight minutes.
Loshe, a junior, made five 3-pointers and was 5-of-6 at the free-throw line to best her previous career high of 21 points set Nov. 20.
Emilee Myers was second on the team with 17 points, and Shaelynn Bowman contributed nine points.
South Adams’ junior varsity team edged Eastbrook, 25-20. Makayla Hamrick and Carlie Sealscott led the team with nine and seven points respectively.
Chiefs sweep Titans
The East Jay seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams both knocked off the Muncie Northside Titans on Monday.
The seventh graders won 43-5 while the eighth grade team earned a 46-16 victory.
Bralee VanSkyock and Sophie Saxman paced the EJMS seventh graders (7-1) with 11 and 10 points respectively. Cash Hollowell followed with five points as Breanna Dirksen and Molly Muhlenkamp had four points apiece.
Renna Schwieterman’s 17 points led all players for the eighth grade Chiefs (8-1), who also got eight points from Lydia Keihn and four from Eden Abshire. Laci McGinnis tallied three points and Kylee Carreno added two points.
Boys beat Blackford
HARTFORD CITY — Nine players made the scoresheet as the East Jay eighth grade boys basketball team dominated the host Blackford Bruins on Monday, 50-22.
The seventh grade Chiefs also won, 36-24.
Bennett Weitzel had a dozen points for the eighth graders (7-1). Owen Ransom scored seven in support of Weitzel, while Josh Dowlen and Blake Bogenschutz finished with six points apiece. Brady Davis and Cameron Henry each had five points.
Leading the way for the seventh graders (5-3) was Sam Myers, who finished with 16 points. Zach McAbee tallied six points and Abraham Dirksen notched five points. Bryce Wenk chipped in four points.
Tribe sweeps Trojans
FORT RECOVERY — Cale Rammel scored 20 points in leading the Fort Recovery eighth grade boys basketball team to a 48-13 victory over the Arcanum Trojans on Monday.
The seventh grade Indians also won, 35-23.
Rammel scored 10 points in the first quarter and finished the night with a trio of 3-pointers. Daniel Patch followed with nine points and Ross Pearson contributed seven points. Wyatt Bihn and Landon Post tallied four and three points respectively.
Troy Homan, Rex Leverette and Lyndon Brinkerhoff each had eight points to lead the FRMS seventh graders. Gavin Faller and Riggs Tobe scored four points apiece.

UNION CITY, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s seventh grade girls basketball team beat the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks on Monday, 25-18.
Mara Pearson had eight points in the second quarter on her way to a game-high 20 points. Kensey Gaerke was second with four points and Saige Leuthold added a free throw.
