The Patriot girls won for the second time in as many days.

The boys weren’t able to do the same.

Jay County High School’s swim teams split with the Delta Eagles on Tuesday, with the girls winning 175-119 and the boys falling 168-130.

Ashlyn Dow and Eliza Bader both had a pair of individual wins for the JCHS girls (4-2). Dow won the 50-yard freestyle and 100 breaststroke while Bader was first in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly events.

Vivienne Kunkler (200 individual medley), Elayna Paro (500 freestyle) and Lilli Clemmons (100 backstroke) each picked up wins in their respective events.

The Patriot girls also swept all three relays.

Taylor Smeltzer had the only individual victory for the JCHS boys (1-5), doing so in the 100 butterfly. He joined Chase McFarland, Griffin Mann and Dorane Beiswanger to win the 200 medley relay as well.



Grapplers take two

The Jay County wrestling team beat a pair of out-of-state teams on Tuesday, toppling the Parkway Panthers 48-28 and the Celina Bulldogs 46-27.

Dyllan Garringer (106 pounds), Blayne Daniels (126), Jordan Schricker (152), Thomas Hemmelgarn (160) and Nathanael Lykins (182) each went 2-0 on the day in their respective weight classes. Mason Winner earned a forfeit at 195 against Parkway before getting a pin at 220 against Celina.

Lucas Schmit (220), Cooper Jacks (285) and Jayden Maymi (113) were victorious against Parkway, while Camron Gage (138), Garrett Mann (145) and Dawson Frasher (195) defeated their Celina opponents.

 

Tribe, Panthers split

ROCKFORD, Ohio — The Fort Recovery Middle School seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams split with the Parkway Panthers on Tuesday.

The seventh graders earned a 25-13 triumph while the eighth grade Indians fell 40-13.

Mara Pearson scored a dozen points to lead the FRMS seventh graders. Cali Wendel had seven points in support of Pearson, and Kensey Gaerke chipped in four points.

Audra Bubp and Faith Wendel had three points each for the eighth graders. Alexis Wendel, Elizabeth Alig and Madison Guggenbiller all had two points.
