The Patriots were dominant against a conference rival on Monday.
Jay County High School’s swim teams combined to take first place in 19 of the 24 events against Adams Central in their final meet of 2018.
The JCHS boys won 10 events as they defeated Adams Central 177-106, and the girls were first in nine races for a 178-91 win.
Tayler Smeltzer was the lone dual winner for the JCHS boys (2-4), as he was first in both the 100-yard butterfly and 100 backstroke. Kyle Sanders (200 individual medley), Justice Murphy (diving), Chase McFarland (500 freestyle) and Griffin Mann (100 breaststroke) also had individual victories.
Eliza Bader and Ashlyn Dow each had two wins for the Patriot girls (4-2). Bader won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke while Dow beat the field in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Vivienne Kunkler and Elayna Paro won the 100 freestyle and 500 freestyle races respectively.
Both Patriot teams swept all three relays as well.
Fort girls, SA boys win
BERNE — Fort Recovery’s girls swim team and the South Adams boys finished first in a three-team meet with the Minster Wildcats on Monday.
The FRHS girls totaled 83 points for first, while South Adams (61) and Minster (51) were second and third respectively.
South Adams’ boys scored 95 points for their win. Minster was second with 71 points and Fort Recovery totaled 35 for third.
Ava Bubp won the 200-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke for the Tribe girls, as Cassy Martin (100 freestyle) and Shelby Stammen (500 freestyle) also earned victories. The Indians also won the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.
For South Adams, Ashley LeFever (200 individual medley and 100 butterfly) and Isabella Bailey (50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke) were dual winners.
South Adams also won the 200 freestyle relay.
Colin Anderson and Kam Yoder won the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly respectively for the SAHS boys, which also won the 200 medley and freestyle relays.
Owen Sheridan (500 freestyle) and Nolan Thobe (100 breaststroke) each won their respective events for the FRHS boys.
