VERSAILLES, Ohio — The Indians stuck with the Tigers for eight minutes.
In the second quarter the game started to slip away.
Things got out of hand in the third.
The Fort Recovery High School boys basketball team got outscored 44-23 in the second and third quarters and wasn’t able to stop the conference’s all-time leading scorer in a 73-46 loss on Friday to the Division III No. 8 Versailles Tigers.
The Indians (6-6, 0-4 Midwest Athletic Conference) fell behind 17-14 after the first quarter and went into halftime trailing 36-24. But the Tigers, led by Ohio State commit Justin Ahrens, exploded for 25 points in the third quarter to lead 61-37 heading into the final quarter.
Peyton Jutte had four 3-pointers on his way to a team-high 19 points for Fort Recovery.
Ahrens, who surpassed 2004 Versailles graduate Kyle Gehle as the MAC’s all-time scoring leader, led all players with 38 points.
Tribe 1st at Greenville
GREENVILLE — Alexis Bubp needed just three days to retake her record.
Bubp, a Fort Recovery senior, set a new school record in the 200-yard individual medley in leading the Tribe girls swim team to a first-place in a quad meet at Darke County YMCA.
For Recovery scored 132 points to finish ahead of Legacy Christian (54), Greenville (38), Tri-Village (23) and Troy Christian (17).
Bubp had a time of 2 minutes, 22.31 seconds, breaking the record of 2:22.62 that teammate Cassy Martin set Tuesday. Bubp also won the 100 freestyle.
Martin won the 50 freestyle and 500 freestyle. Paige Fortkamp (100 backstroke) and Sophie Timmerman (100 breaststroke) were also first in their respective events.
