Bader sets new records
Alex Bader made the final home dual meet of her club swimming career one to remember.
Bader, a 2018 Jay County High School graduate and future Ball State University Cardinal, set a team and pool record in the 200-meter freestyle as she helped the Jay County Summer Swim Team blow past Bellmont, 929-134, on Monday at Portland Water Park.
Bader, who also got a victory in the butterfly, won the 200 freestyle with her time of 2 minutes, 13.23 seconds. She bested her own team record, and broke a pool record set in 1978.
Jay County had three triple-event winners — Chase McFarland (open 200 freestyle, long freestyle and short freestyle), Mara Bader (long freestyle, backstroke and short freestyle) and Jason Minnich (backstroke, individual medley, breaststroke).
Dual winners were Elayna Paro (IM, breaststroke), Eliza Bader (long freestyle, breaststroke), Hannah Laux (butterfly, IM), Dorane Beiswanger (breaststroke, short freestyle), Jacob Monroe (long freestyle, short freestyle), Mikalah Shauver (butterfly, IM), David Keen (butterfly, breaststroke), Raif Beiswanger (backstroke, breaststroke) and Lauren Fisher (breaststroke, short freestyle).

Arnold won the 8-and-younger long freestyle for the first individual victory of her swimming career.
