SOUTH BEND — The TinCaps return home licking their wounds.

The Fort Wayne TinCaps lost 6-1 on to the South Bend Cubs on Thursday at Four Winds Field. The sweep marked the fourth consecutive loss for the TinCaps (26-32), who return to Parkview Field tonight for a  four-game set against the Lansing Lugnuts.

South Bend (29-29)?opened the scoring in the fifth inning as Brandon Hughes hit a three-run inside-the-park home run. Fort Wayne trimmed the deficit by scoring its only run in the seventh on an RBI single from Robby Podorsky.

The?Cubs responded with a three-run eighth inning when Jared Young blasted a three-run homer to right field.



Notes: Fort Wayne starter Tom Cosgrove struck out six and walked one in six innings. He allowed three earned runs ... Jeisson Rosario had a pair of singles for the TinCaps, raising his batting average to .275. Nick Feight doubled and Esteury Ruiz added a single.
