Galaxy, Comets get Pennville soccer victories

PENNVILLE — The Galaxy remained atop the standings.

The Comets moved to .500.

The Galaxy and Comets both won their respective Space division games as Pennville Soccer League hosted a pair of rescheduled games.

Jacoby Penrod, Larissa Ross and Toby Wenger each tallied two goals in leading the Galaxy (4-0) to a 7-0 victory against the Asteroids (0-4). Camden Vinson had the other score for the Galaxy.

Penrod leads all Space division players with 15 goals this year.

Max McClain III scored two first-half goals and finished with three to lead the Comets past the Rockets, 6-1. Landon Ellison contributed two goals for the Comets (2-2).

Stan Needler recorded his second goal of the year in the second half for the Rockets (1-3).

 

Flamespray wins big

Four players combined for 16 hits in leading Flamespray Machine Service to a 20-1 lopsided victory Thursday over Barnett’s Auto Parts in Portland Junior League’s Rookie baseball division.

Nick Snow hit two home runs and finished with four hits, and Gavin Byrum chipped in two triples and a pair of singles. Porter Clamme tallied a double and three singles as Maverick Reier notched four singles. Roman Clamme and Grant Fennig tallied three hits each.

Varen Ridgway had a double and an RBI for Barnett’s, which also got a single from Brayden Keihn.



Display Craft downs TJ

Portland Junior League’s Display Craft took down TJ Concrete Construction by a 6-2 score on Wednesday in the Rookie softball division.

Chaley Butler, Savanah Fields, Presleigh Moore and Kendall Schemenaur all went 3-for-3 for Display Craft. Bailey Towell added two hits and scored twice, while Brantley Towell doubled and scored a run. Schemenaur scored three times and contributed an RBI and Fields finished with four RBIs.

For TJ Concrete Construction, Erin Aker finished 3-for-3 and scored a run. Kayleigh Stevenson was also 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Dixie Bells contributed three hits as well.



Carpenter helps Pak-A-Sak

Kadyn Carpenter ripped three hits and scored three times in helping Pak-A-Sak defeat All-Circuit Electrical 8-1 on Thursday in PJL’s Rookie baseball. 

Alex Miller contributed two hits and two runs, while Caleb Sibray, Brayden O’Brian and Kayden Comer all had runs.

For All-Circuit, Bryor Garringer led the way with two hits. Logan Wendel, Shawn Harrell, Jake Arnold, Aiden Stallsmith and Cody Suman all had hits. Harrell notched the team’s only run.



Lions beats PG-14

Lions Club beat PG-14 by a 15-5 score Wednesday in Willie Mays action of Portland Junior League.

Austin Jellison and Aryan Montes both tripled and singled to pace Lions. Wes Wenning smacked a double, while Eli Stockton had a double and two singles. 

Maddox Huffman hit a pair of home runs and singled for PG-14 in the loss. 



JCT edges Fisher

Jay County Therapeutics edged Fisher Packing 8-6 on Wednesday in a game postponed from June 7 in PJL’s Minor softball division.

Dakota Chowning doubled and singled for Jay County Therapeutics, which also got a double and an RBI from Morgan DeHoff and a single from Tessa Miller.

Adrianne Denney singled and drove in a run for Fisher.
