Sawyer Miller was among the best in Indiana three times.
For the second time in as many years, he has been recognized nationally.
Miller, a 2015 South Adams High School graduate, was once again an All-American as he finished sixth in the NAIA National Championships on Friday and Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.
The junior, who entered the tournament ranked seventh at 125-pounds, won his opening-round match over Southern Oregon’s Trey Long by a 9-8 decision. He dropped his second-round match by a 16-2 major decision to Julian Gayton of Midland (Nebraska).
He then rebounded to win four straight matches — a 3-2 decision, 1-0 decision, 7-3 decision and 8-6 sudden victory — before losing in the consolation semifinals by a 6-4 decision.
In the fifth-place match, Miller (30-10), lost to top-ranked Mikel Perales of Menlo (California).
The eighth-ranked Warriors were seventh as a team with 54.5 points.
Collin Affolder
South Adams – 2014
Had his school-record hitting streak snapped but started another one as the Bethel College baseball team was 1-4 in the last week.
The senior had a single and a run in a 10-9 loss Friday over Miami-Hamilton to push his school-record hitting streak to 15 games.
Affolder went hitless in twoat bats with a walk against Lawrence Tech in the first game of a doubleheader, an 8-0 defeat. In the second game, a 10-7 victory, he notched a solo home run for his first round-tripper of the season.
He added a single and a run Monday in a 10-7 loss against Miami-Hamilton before he smacked a double, scored a run and tallied an RBI as the Pilots (6-5) lost Tuesday, 22-9, to Siena Heights.

Assisted in a record-breaking performance for the University of the Cumberlands women’s swim team as it finished third in the NAIA Swimming and Divingchampionships , which concluded Saturday.
She kicked off the 400-yard freestyle relay with Mendy De Rooi, Christina Kloudaand Brittany Litke as they set a new school record in 3 minutes, 31.04 seconds, more than a second faster than the previous mark.
The junior also had a time of 53.13 seconds in the 100 freestyle as she was 11th.
The Patriots set a program record by totaling 387 points. Savannah College of Art and Design won with 603.5 points, and Olivet Nazarene was runner-up with 519 points.

Competed for the Ball State women’s swim team in the Mid-American Conference championships at Ohio University.
The sophomore cousins teamed with Peighton Gilbert and Amanda Kedzierski to finish eighth in the 400-yard freestyle relay with their time of 3 minutes, 29.13 seconds. Bader was second and had a split of 51.82 seconds, and Vormohr anchored the relay with a split of 52.4 seconds.
Vormohr also placed 14th in the 200 backstroke in 2:02.67, shaving 0.14 seconds off her seed time.
The Cardinals were last out of eight teams.

Was named Crossroads League pitcher of the week Monday.
After picking up the first win of his career Feb. 26, he hurled a complete-game shutout — both career firsts — in a 5-0 victory Saturday over Cleary University. The senior surrendered three hits against Cleary while walking one and striking out five.
Through 13 games, Ingle leads the Maple Leafs (5-8) with a 0.68 earned run average and 0.98 walks and hits per inning (WHIP). Opposing batters have just a .119 average against the former Starfire right-hander.

Had her hand in four match victories for the Trine University women’s tennis team as it earned a pair of wins in Florida.
The sophomore won her No. 3 singles match 1-6, 6-2, 10-6 Hanna Schoning as the Thunder defeated Morningside College 8-1 Monday in Orlando, Florida. She joined Katie Simon to win by forfeit at No. 3 doubles.
On Tuesday in a 5-4 win overCoventant in Kissimmee, Florida, Braun swept Morgan McCain 7-5, 6-4, to win her No. 4 doubles match. Braun and Simon knocked off Mariah Westra and Kayla Brown 8-2, helping Trine to a 5-4 victory.

Made his season debut for the Huntington University baseball team Friday in a 5-4 loss toUniversity of the Cumberlands.
The senior entered as apinch runner for catcher Hunter Losekamp and came around to score.
On Saturday against Cincinnati-Clermont, Selvey was hitless in two at-bats as a substitute as the Foresters, who had lost their first nine games of the season, picked up a 13-1 victory.
Jackson Hobbs
Fort Recovery – 2016
Suffered his first loss of the season on the bump for the Edison State Community College baseball team in a 5-1 defeat to Ivy Tech Northeast on Friday.
The sophomore tossed seven innings, gave up five runs — two earned — on five hits while striking out three and walking two in his season debut for the Chargers (0-5).
Hobbs is now 2-2 in his career with one save and three complete games. He boasts a 4.3 ERA.

Participated in the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Pittsburgh State University.
The sophomore was 24th in the shot put with a distance of 15.06 meters.
Alex Wellington, a senior at Hastings, won the national title with a put of 18.38 meters.
