Chandler Ingle had a strong day on the mound Wednesday.
He just didn’t get enough run support.
Ingle, a 2014 South Adams High School graduate, suffered his third consecutive defeat for the Goshen College baseball team in a 3-0 loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene.
Ingle tossed six innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits. All three runs came in the first inning. The right-hander also walked one and struck out a pair.
Following a shaky start, Ingle (2-3) retired 15 of the final 17 batters he faced.
The Maple Leafs (10-16, 2-6 Crossroads League) only managed to collect three hits in the game, all of which were singles.
Ingle has made eight appearances this season for Goshen, having thrown 30 innings. He’s allowed 16 runs — all but three earned — with 19 strikeouts and 16 walks. He sports a 3.90 ERA, which is tops on the team, and opposing hitters are batting .266 against him.

Made her collegiate debut for the Lipscomb University women’s golf team Sunday and Monday in the Saluki Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois.
The sophomore opened the tournament by shooting 18-over-par 90 onSunday, but bounced back on day two to shave six strokes off her total from the previous round.
Her two-day total of 174 (30-over par) was 57th overall out of 83.
She was third on the team, behind Jenny Muesing (163) and Lauryn Davidson (167).
The Bisons totaled 347 on the first day and 337 for day two, ending with 684. IUPUI won the 13-team tournament with a score of 617.
Katelin Augsburger
South Adams – 2017
Ended a stretch of three consecutive losses pitching for the University of Saint Francis softball team on Monday in a 4-3 victory against Taylor University.
The freshman right-hander went seven innings, allowing three earned runs on just four hits while giving up seven walks. Augsburger (3-5), who had lost her previous three games, also struck out seven while tossing 149 pitches.
On Friday, Augsburger was the losing pitcher in a 3-1 defeat to Marian. She went six innings and gave up three runs — one earned — on five hits to go with her three strikeouts and five walks.
The Cougars are 12-11 on the year and 5-5 in Crossroads League play.

Had his part in four straight wins for the Huntington University baseball team recently.
The senior entered as a pinch runner and came around to score on Friday in the first game of a doubleheader against Grace College, an 8-3 victory. In game two,a 11-3 win, he was 0-for-1 with two more runs.
On Monday, Selvey started at second base and went hitless in twoat bats with a walk and a run as the Foresters (7-12, 5-0 Crossroads League) beat Mount Vernon Nazarene 8-4 victory in 10 innings in the second game of a doubleheader.
Selvey is hitless in five at-bats this season with five runs and a walk.

Went 2-2 in a pair of matches recently for the Trine University women’s tennis team.
She earned two victories Friday as the Thunder defeated Bethel College 6-3. The sophomore had a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Stephanie Cressman at No. 5 singles, then teamed with Katie Simon to knock off Ashton Taner and Cressman 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
On Wednesday in an 8-1 Thunder loss to St. Mary’s College, Braun dropped her No. 5 singles match 2-6, 6-4, 10-2 to Lilly Chamberlin, then she and Simon lost 8-4 to Lily Brandt and Elizabeth Preister at No. 3 doubles.

Doubled in back-to-back games for the Bethel College baseball team as it got swept in a doubleheader Wednesday against Spring Arbor.
The senior outfielder was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI in game one, a 7-3 loss. He was also 1-for-4 in the game two, a 14-4 defeat.
Affolder has started all 24 games for the Pilots (9-15, 1-7 Crossroads League) and had a .333bating average with four doubles, three home runs, 15 RBIs and 18 runs.

Finished in the top 10 for the University of Saint Francis women’s track team Friday in the Polar Bear Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan.
The sophomore was eighth in the javelin with her throw of 25.3 meters. She hit the mark on her second of fourattempts, and fouled on her final throw.
Spring Arbor’s Leslie Tanis won with a distance of 30.7 meters.

Competed for the Butler University women’s track team in the Black & Gold Invitational on Friday and Saturday hosted by Vanderbilt.
The sophomore was 21st in the 400-meter dash with her time of 1 minute, 1.85 seconds. She was fourth in her heat.
