DECATUR — Renna Schwieterman continued her scoring onslaught.
A balanced attack helped the seventh graders to victory.
East Jay Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams both defeated Bellmont on Tuesday.
The eighth graders won 41-6, and the seventh graders earned a 32-8 win.
Schwieterman scored 19 points to lead the EJMS eighth graders (4-1). It was her fifth consecutive game with 16 or more points this year. Kylie Carreno joined her in double figures with 10 points, as Lydia Keihn contributed eight points. Eden Abshire and Hannah Laux scored two points apiece.
Sophie Saxman finished with eight points to lead the seventh grade Chiefs (3-1). Bralee VanSkyock and Molly Muhlenkamp tallied six points each, and Cash Hollowell had four points.
Breanna Dirksen, Danielle May, Tessa Miller and Saxman had two points each.
Chief boys win
Four players reached double figures on Tuesday, leading the East Jay eighth grade boys basketball team past the Bellmont Braves 55-13.
The EJMS seventh graders also won, 44-10.
Dusty Pearson led the way for the eighth graders (3-1) with 12 points. Bennett Weitzel, Dawson Hundley and Blake Bogenschutz all had 10 points.
Owen Ransom ended with six points, Carter Link chipped in four points and Conner McFarland had three.
Sam Myers tallied 10 points for the EJMS seventh graders (1-3). Zac McAbee and Abraham Dirksen had eight points each, while Bryce Wenk finished with six points. Justin DeHoff and Brayden Collins had four points each.
Eagle 7th wins
DUNKIRK — The West Jay seventh grade boys basketball team moved to 5-0 on Tuesday by beating the Bluffton Tigers 37-21.
The eighth graders fell, 45-23.
Parker Nichols was the leading scorer for the WJMS eighth graders as he had 10 points. Liam Garringer and Jackson Edwards both finished with nine points, and Trevin Dunnington had seven points. Ryan Cross chipped in two points.
Kaleb Meadows led the seventh graders with 10 points. Tavin Wasson was second on the team with six points, and Jaydence Brannon tallied three points. Peyton James and Gabe Goodspeed had two points each.
Fort falls
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery’s seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams both lost to the St. Henry Redskins on Tuesday.
The eighth graders lost 28-6, and the seventh graders came up short 29-19.
Alexis Wendel led the eighth graders with four points, and Abby Knapke added a pair of free throws.
Cali Wendel had six points in the loss for the FRMS seventh graders, who also got five points from Mara Pearson and three from Saige Leuthold. Kensey Gaerke and Addy Jenkins had two points each.
