FORT LORAMIE, Ohio — The Indians bounced back in a big way.
Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team rebounded from a loss on Thursday to sweep the Fort Loramie Redskins on Saturday, 25-18, 25-23, 25-10.
Olivia Patch led the Division IV No. 4 Indians (15-2) with nine kills and five blocks. Whitley Rammel, Brooke Gaerke and Cassidy Martin all finished with six kills each, while Gaerke and Martin contributed four blocks apiece.
Madi Rammel tallied 17 assists, and Hannah Knapke contributed 15 digs.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team also won, 25-21, 25-15.
Ava Bubp led the team with nine kills.
Streak hits six
CONVERSE — Jay County’s boys soccer team pushed its winning streak to six games on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over the host Oak Hill Golden Eagles in the regular-season finale.
During the winning streak, the Patriots (8-6) have outscored their opponents 26-2 with four shutouts.
Christian Marentes scored the only goal of the game for Jay County, breaking a scoreless tie in the second half. Marentes found the back of the net on a free kick.
In junior varsity action, Jay County and Oak Hill played to a 1-1 draw. Isaka Dalei got the only goal for JCHS.
Jay County opens sectional play at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday against Yorktown at Eastbrook.
Stars 2-1 at invite
CONVOY, Ohio — The South Adams volleyball team went 2-1 on Saturday in the Crestview Invitational.
The Starfires (18-10) fell to Division III No. 2 Ottawa-Glandorf 25-16, 25-21 before beating both Arlington (20-25, 25-19, 25-16) and Celina (25-19, 25-21).
Shaelynn Bowman and Carlie Sealscott led South Adams with 19 kills each, and Gabriella Bailey was third on the team with 18 kills. Lydia Loshe contributed 15 kills.
Josie Grabau tallied 38 assists, Hannah Dull recorded 34 digs and Bowman had four blocks.
Stars win finale
BERNE — South Adams’ volleyball team won its season finale on Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Manchester.
Madi Smith and Anna Nussbaum both scored for the Starfires (9-5-1). Ali Smith contributed an assist. Jenna Myers faced five shots in goal, turning away four.
South Adams opens sectional play at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Blackhawk Christian at Canterbury.
EJ 7th runner-up
East Jay Middle School’s seventh grade volleyball team placed second on Saturday in the Patriot Invitational at Jay County.
The Chiefs beat Bluffton (25-21, 14-25, 15-10) and West Jay (25-6, 25-18) before losing to South Adams (13-25, 25-24, 15-6).
East Jay’s eighth graders were third, beating Bluffton (25-8, 25-8) before losing to West Jay (12-25, 25-20, 15-10) and South Adams (25-8, 25-18).
Sophie Saxman led the EJMS seventh graders with nine kills. She also had 10 aces on her way to 23 points. Brenna Haines had a team-best 33 points, 23 aces and nine digs.
Lauren Brewster paced the Chief eighth graders with 10 aces. Kylee Carreno finished with 30 points, and Renna Schweiterman contributed 16 kills.
Stats for West Jay and South Adams were not provided.
