FORT RECOVERY — Against non-conference opponents, the Indians have yet to lose.
The Starfires had a tough time getting into their offense.
Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team kept the South Adams offense at bay Tuesday in a 25-17, 25-8, 25-15 victory at Fort Site Fieldhouse.
Cassidy Martin led the Indians (16-2) with 13 kills, and Brooke Gaerke was second with 11. Olivia Patch, Whitley Rammel and Gaerke shared the team high of three blocks, and Madi Rammel set up her teammates to the tune of 25 assists. Hannah Knapke had 17 digs.
South Adams (19-11) only tallied a dozen kills as a team. Carlie Sealscott and Gabriella Bailey had four each, and Shaelynn Bowman tallied four kills.
Josie Grabau notched nine assists, and Bella Bailey finished with nine digs.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team also won, 17-25, 25-15, 25-13. Grace Guggenbiller and Marissa Gaerke recorded seven kills each for the Indians.
Makayla Hamrick led the Starfires with five kills.
Stars’ season ends
FORT WAYNE — The South Adams girls soccer team had its season end Tuesday with a sectional loss to Blackhawk Christian at Canterbury.
The Starfires (9-6-1) lost in penalty kicks, 2-1.
South Adams dropped three of its last five games following a five-game winning streak.
Kristen Wynn scored the lone goal in regulation for the Starfires. Jenna Myers faced 13 shots before PKs, and turned away a dozen of them.
Jay eighth loses
WOODBURN — The Jay County eighth grade football team suffered a 19-14 defeat to the Woodlan Warriors on Tuesday.
Dawson Hundley had a rushing touchdown for the Patriots (4-3), and Patrick Hemmelgarn threw a touchdown pass to Josh Dowlen.
Kaiden Ridenour finished with 100 rushing yards.
Dowlen paced the defense with seven tackles.
