TIFFIN, Ohio — Chloe Will is headed back to the state finals.
Will, a Fort Recovery High School senior, was 19th overall Saturday in the OHSAA cross country regional meet at Hedges Boyer Park.
As a team, the Indians placed 15th, and competing as an individual, Drew Muhlenkamp had his sophomore season come to a close.
The top eight teams and top 32 individuals qualify for the state finals, which will be contested Saturday at National Trail Raceway in Hebron.
Will, who also qualified as a junior, crossed the finish line in 20 minutes, 2.69 seconds. She was 16 seconds ahead of Holgate’s Raena Willett, who was 32nd to earn the final state-qualifying spot.
Freshman Anna Wendel was the No. 2 Tribe runner, finishing 71st in 21:17.02. Classmate Hanna Metzger was 90th in 21:32.49, fellow freshman Kendra Metzger placed 155th in 22:52.94 and senior Elise Gehle completed the team score by ending in 23:00.06 for 164th.
Fort Recovery totaled 365 points. Minster, which was state runner-up a year ago, won the team title with 40 points. Pettisville (136), Columbus Grove (140), St. Henry (166), Archbold (188), Liberty Center (222), Lincolnview (233) and New London (248) all reached state.
Also running for the FRHS girls were Audrey Guggenbiller (190) and Sarah Siefring (191).
Muhlenkamp finished 154th in 19.08.3.
