The Patriots stayed perfect against conference opponents.
They reached double-digit wins in the process.
Jay County High School’s volleyball team swept the visiting Woodlan Warriors on Thursday, 25-13, 25-12, 25-10.
The win propelled Jay County to a 10-4 overall record and a 2-0 mark in Allen County Athletic Conference play.
Alana Kunkler led the Patriots with nine kills, while Natalie Miles and Hallie Fields both contributed six kills. Olivia Kunkler added five kills.
Kailee Denney posted team-highs in both assists (15) and aces (six), while Maggie Pryor’s 23 digs were tops on the squad. Sisters Alana and Olivia Kunkler had three and two blocks respectively.
Jay County’s junior varsity team also won, 25-8 16-25, 16-14. Lilly Hedges led the squad with eight kills. Kylie Klopfenstein and Lyric Garringer each had four kills. Pacie Denney recorded 18 assists and Klopfenstein tallied 14 digs.
Chiefs perfect in win
East Jay Middle School’s cross country teams both had perfect scores Thursday in beating Bellmont at Hudson Family Park.
The Chief boys won 15-50, while the girls got a 15-49 victory.
Thomas LeMaster won the boys race in 12 minutes, 10 seconds, which was 30 seconds ahead of runner-up Cameron Clark. Sebastian Solis (12:55), Tony Wood (12:55) and Tyler Manor (13:01) were third through fifth respectively. East Jay had runners take the top 11 spots.
In the girls race, Lydia Keihn crossed the finish line first in 13:31. Mara Bader was second in 15:09, Natalie Carreno placed third in 15:15, Emily Manor finished fourth in 15:45 and Makaylah Brainerd was fifth in 16:01.

MONROEVILLE — The East Jay seventh grade volleyball team picked up a 25-6, 25-12 victory over the host Heritage Patriots on Thursday.
The eighth grade team fell 25-20, 25-21.
Danielle May had the only kill for the seventh graders (3-1). Brenna Haines notched five aces on her way to 10 service points, and May contributed three aces. Sophie Saxman tallied six service points.
Laci McGinnis, Gracie Barnett and Renna Schwieterman had one kill apiece for the eighth graders (1-3), and Natalie Wehrly tallied five digs. Madison Brunswick led the team in both aces (seven) and service points (17).
