The Patriots were behind when play was halted nearly two weeks ago.
They weren’t able to reverse their fortune when the match resumed Wednesday.
Jay County High School’s boys tennis team lost 5-0 to the Bluffton Tigers on Wednesday in a match that was continued from Sept. 6.
The Patriots (3-7, 0-2 ACAC) had already lost at No. 1 doubles on Sept. 6, as Xavier Ninde and Sheldon Upp fell to Gabe Eisenhunt and Mason Heller 6-0, 6-0, before thunderstorms halted play.
Bluffton had won the first set in every other match, and only needed to complete the sweeps Wednesday.
At No. 1 singles, JCHS senior Conner Benter fell to Landon McClish 6-1, 6-0, and Gabe Blankenship dropped his No. 2 doubles match to Jarrett Phillips, 6-2, 6-1.
Crosby Heniser, the Patriots’ No. 3 player, lost to Tanner Cooley 6-1, 6-0.
The No. 2 doubles tandem of Gavin Randall and Christian Romero dropped their match to Noah Christal and Spencer Schwartz, 6-0, 6-2.
Chiefs come up short
East Jay Middle School’s eighth grade volleyball team came up short against the South Adams Starfires on Tuesday in a 25-18, 24-25, 15-14 defeat.
Lauren Brewster tallied four kills and added 10 service points.
Gracie Barnett contributed 11 points, and Kylee Carreno finished with nine points, including three aces.
Renna Schwieterman led the team with three kills, and Natalie Wehrly had four digs.
Stats from South Adams were not provided.
