PARKER CITY — The Chief boys continued their streak.
East Jay Middle School’s boys cross country team remained undefeated on the season as it finished first in a meet at Monroe Central with Wes-Del and Union (Modoc).
The Chiefs scored 22 points for the victory. Monroe Central totaled 41 for second and Wes-Del finished third with 79.
East Jay’s girls scored 30 points to finish second behind Monroe Central (26). Wes-Del placed third with 94 points.
Cameron Clark led the EJMS boys with his second-place finish in 12 minutes, 20 seconds. Thomas LeMaster (second), Grayson Williams (fourth), Tyler Manor (sixth) and Sebastian Solis (seventh) also scored for the Chiefs.
Lydia Keihn of East Jay won the girls race in 13:39, finishing ahead of teammates Mara Bader (fourth), Natalie Carreno (sixth), Emily Manor (eighth) and Makayla Brainerd (11th).
Chiefs sweep Indians
UNION CITY — East Jay’s seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams both swept the Union City Indians on Thursday.
The eighth graders got a 25-17, 25-16 triumph, while the seventh graders came out on top 25-12, 25-11.
Renna Schwieterman had seven kills for the eighth graders (3-9). Gracie Barnett and Madison Brunswick both finished with eight service points thanks to four aces. Lauren Brewster and Laci McGinnis finished with six points, two aces and two kills apiece.
Maggie Dillon’s three kills led the seventh graders (7-6). Brenna Haines had nine service points, all aces, and a pair of kills. Riah Champ contributed five aces on her way to 10 points.
Tribe beats Cavs
COLDWATER, Ohio — The seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams at Fort Recovery both defeated the Coldwater Cavaliers on Thursday.
The seventh graders earned a 25-16, 25-8 victory, while the eighth grade team won 25-13, 21-25, 25-15.
Mara Pearson led the seventh graders with four kills, and Teigen Fortkamp was second with three. Kensey Gaerke finished with four aces to lead the team, while Cali Wendel collected two kills.
Abby Knapke notched six kills for the eighth graders, who also got five kills each from Faith Wendel and Grace Klingshirn. Allysen Fullenkamp and Brooklyn Jutte tallied five aces apiece.
