The Indians collectively played their best round of golf this year for the second time in three days.
Unfortunately for them, yet again, they came up just a bit shy.
Fort Recovery High School’s boys golf team shaved two strokes off its previous season-low set Monday as it lost to the Parkway Panthers on Wednesday, 187-191, in the Midwest Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Grant Knapke made par four times on his way to a 7-over 42 in earning match medalist honors. He made par on the first, fifth, seventh and ninth holes, and bogeyed the second, sixth and eighth.
Carson Rammel, Knapke’s playing partner, had par twice as he carded 48. Cole Muhlenkamp shot 50, and Derek Lochtefeld completed the team score with 51.
Zander Kunkler (52), and Seth Lochtefeld (55) also played but did not factor into the Tribe’s total.
Fort Recovery dipped to 1-4 (0-1 MAC) on the season.
In junior varsity action, Russell Gehle, AJ Romer and Isaac LeFevre all carded rounds of 56.
