ROCKFORD, Ohio — Drew Muhlenkamp opened the season by taking fourth place.
Both Tribe squads did as well.
Muhlenkamp paced the Fort Recovery High School boys cross country team as it finished fourth Tuesday in the Mercer County Meet at Parkway.
The host Panthers won with a score of 49, beating runner-up Celina by seven points. Marion Local (84) was third, five points better than the Indians.
St. Henry won the girls race with 45 points, with Celina (74) taking second.
Fort Recovery and Marion Local tied with 79 points, but Marion Local won the sixth-runner tiebreaker by one position.
Muhlenkamp, a senior, had a time of 17 minutes, 54.56 seconds, to place fourth overall, and Connor Gower was the Tribe’s No. 2 runner as he was 13th in 19:19.98.
Jared Timmerman ended 17th in 20:05.07, John Knapke was 22nd in 20:25.15 and Ethan Evers placed 37th in 21:48.34.
Sophomore Alyssa Heinrichs was the top Fort Recovery girl as she was 11th in 22:32.05.
Hannah Metzger (22:38.94) and freshman Megan Diller (22:46.03) were 13th and 14th respectively, while Sarah Siefring took 19th in 23:25.3. Caitlin Weitzel, another freshman, completed the team score by ending 22nd in 23:38.35.
Caleb Rammel (42nd) and Andy Weitzel (43rd) also ran for the FRHS boys, while Kendra Metzger (39) and Ashley Dues (48th) competed for the Tribe girls.
