FORT RECOVERY — The Indians hosted a pair of teams for a three-team event Saturday.
They got a couple more wins, too.
Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team moved to 4-0 on the season with wins against Ben Logan Raiders and Springfield Wildcats.
The Tribe defeated the Raiders 25-13, 25-16 before a 25-11, 25-8 triumph over the Wildcats.
Paige Jutte led the FRHS offense with 12 kills on the day, while Whitley Rammel had nine kills to go with her team-high nine blocks. Paige Fortkamp and Marissa Gaerke had five kills each. Chloe Showalter and Hope Wendel collected 15 assists each, and Kierra Wendel contributed 19 digs.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team moved to 3-1 with a win over Ben Logan (25-16, 25-20) and Springfield (25-15, 25-15). Grace Guggenbiller and Melissa Laux had six kills each. Madelyn Knapke contributed 11 assists and seven aces.
Bilbrey nets hat trick
MUNCIE — Freshman Gabi Bilbrey had her first career hat trick in leading the Jay County girls soccer team past the host Burris Owls on Saturday, 8-1.
Jay County (2-1), which has won back-to-back games, had a commanding 6-0 lead at half before losing the shutout in the final 40 minutes.
Bilbrey led the team by recording three goals for the first time in her young career. She also had three assists.
Senior Halle Hill and freshman Mara Bader both had two goals. It was the first two-goal game for Bader, a freshman. Her junior sister Eliza Bader had one goal and two assists, and Anhely Montes added one assist.
Tricia Ison turned away seven Burris shots.
