Eliza Bader won three out of four events for the Patriots. But Celina was stronger throughout its lineup.
Jay County High School’s girls swim team placed second during Saturday’s Celina Sprints (held at JCHS), finishing second to the host Bulldogs.
The Patriot girls scored 138 points compared to 171.5 for Celina. Fort Recovery was fifth among seven scoring teams with 61.5 points.
The Jay County boys scored 68 points for third place behind Memorial (St. Marys) with 201 and Minster with 186.5. Fort Recovery was tied for eighth with Coldwater.
Bader dominated the girls events with victories in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.28, 50 butterfly in 27.03 and 50 backstroke in 28.43. She was also the runner-up to Celina’s Claire Gass in the 50 breaststroke.
Paige Fortkamp paced the Indians with her third-place finish in the 50 freestyle.
Griffin Mann led Jay County’s boys by placing second in the 50 breaststroke. Michael Braun was 16th for Fort Recovery’s boys in the 50 backstroke.
Wrestlers fifth
FRANKLIN, Ohio, and MACONAQUAH — Three individuals won titles Saturday as the Jay County High School wrestling team placed fifth at the Franklin Invitational. Two Patriot girls wrestlers finished 3-0 in tournament action at Maconaquah.
Mason Winner, who is ranked third in Indiana at 182 pounds, won the 195-pound title at the Franklin Tournament. Ethan Reiley (13) and Garrett Mann (160) also won championships.
Adding fourth-place finishes were Dylan Garringer (126) and Cameron Gage (145).
Lita Chowning pinned her way to a 3-0 record at Maconaquah. Lizzie Dollar was also 3-0 with a pair of pins while Madison Rinker finished 2-1.

DUNKIRK — The West Jay Middle School boys basketball teams split Thursday against the Eastbrook Panthers with the eighth graders winning 53-40. The seventh grade squad fell 30-25.
